The Beach
I stood on the beach
My face to the sea The wind and ocean
rooted me like an anchor As they sang
their ancient song
That oh so familiar smell Brought to me
by the unrelenting winds Took me back to
stand with my ancestors As they stood on
this same beach
Then I looked at her Silken blonde hair
blown this way and that Like a mermaid
beneath the waves And watched as she
created castles in the sand And drew a
perfect sun So absorbed in the joy of
life
Then my eyes followed my son as he paced the beach
Hoping his pain was out of reach A son, a
father, caring and kind And I stood and
left the world behind Something in my
soul was healed And peacefulness washed
over me by Carol
